The Story // The handmade textile is sourced from artisans who are part of a fair trade entity that works with traditional handicraft artisans to preserve and promote Lao village crafts, create employment opportunities for villagers – mostly women – and reduce poverty. The entity works to preserve ancient crafts and techniques, an important cultural tradition among the diverse ethnic population of Laos.

The ikat on the textile an age-old dyeing technique used to create patterns in textiles that employs resist dyeing on the yarns prior to dyeing and weaving the fabric. The resist is formed by binding or bundles of yarns with a tight wrapping applied in the desired pattern.
