Who is José?
José Andrés is the chef, activist and humanitarian behind World Central Kitchen. The James Beard Foundation’s Outstanding Chef and Humanitarian of the Year is renowned for his award-winning restaurants and his commitment to serving people.
Several years ago, we saw a clip of José cutting the ‘heart of the tomato’. His intensity and passion was unforgettable. Nearly a decade later, this scent brought back the memory of that scene.
His dedication to craft and intensity teaches us that if what we are doing doesn’t invoke that level of passion, we aren’t doing the right thing.
As of July 2020, Jose’s World Central Kitchen served nearly $25 million meals worldwide in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. José is currently in Beirut, Lebanon, serving meals and supporting NGOs in response to the August 2020 port explosions.
