Xela Lumbar

Sale price$102.00

The falseria fabric is woven on a floor loom by a federation of indiginous weavers living in the highlands of Guatemala. The zig zag patterns often represent a serpent that is symbolic of the earth, feminine energy and the rivers. It is said to remind us to keep moving like water flowing through a stream. The lumbar pillow cover is finished with a blended linen backing, features our signature plate on the backside, and is closed by an invisible zipper.

The Story // Falseria is a traditional hand weaving technique that has been mastered by Mayan artisans since its introduction by the Spanish in the 1500’s. The loomed artisan fabrics are created on a small-batch scale, ensuring attention to detail and quality of the highest standard. The sale of these fabrics creates a sustainable form of income for our artisans from Santa Catarina Ixtahuacan and San Juan Ostuncalco.
